Working almost exclusively in the field of eating disorders and weight concerns for over twenty years, our team's knowledge and experience can help you break free of diet culture and develop a positive relationship with food, mind and body.

At River Oak Health, our philosophy and approach to treatment is informed by five key principles, with each principle collectively and equally contributing to a holistic and comprehensive model of care facilitated by our experts with your input.

Practice Based Evidence

(Informed by Our Experience)

Our experience of working with thousands of clients strongly influences our treatment approach. While the base our knowledge stems from professional education and training, much of what we have learned about delivering treatment has come from the many people we have worked with over the past 25 years.

Evidence Based Practice

(Informed by Research)

At River Oak Health, we value the advancement of knowledge through research, and aim to keep pace with the latest research from across the globe. We then review the research findings and explore ways of integrating them into our treatment approach following consultation with our staff and clients alike.

Collaborative and Customised

(Client Focussed)

While we acknowledge that research and guidelines suggest that specific treatment approaches should be offered in the first instance for some presentations, our experience is these treatments are not a ‘one fix for all’. We discuss a range of treatment options, and work collaboratively with you to tailor an individual treatment plan for your unique circumstances.

The journeys of our clients

(Informed by our Clients Experience)

We consider working with our clients an absolute pleasure, and as such, we truly value each unique story. Taking the time to listen to, and understand these stories has provided us with a rich and dynamic insight into the clients experience, providing an avenue of understanding that cannot be captured in a textbook or presentation.

Inclusion of your support team

(Inclusiveness)

We appreciate that dietary change can be challenging and difficult at times, and for this reason, we encourage you identify the people around you that can assist you in the process of working towards improved health, wellbeing, and performance. We refer to these people as your support team, and encourage their participation in treatment with you.
